CBD vs THC
Your bodies Endocannabinoid system (ECS) has 2 primary receptors (CB1 & CB2) that cannabinoids bind to in order to signal that the ECS needs to take action.
Although there are over 80+ known Cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis, it has two main players: CBD and THC.
THC is the psychoactive cannabinoid that binds to your CB1 receptor which activates the compound. It stimulates the part of your brain that responds to pleasure.
CBD is also psychoactive; it's just not intoxicating. The reason for this is CBD is a CB1 antagonist and is exceedingly bad at activating that receptor. It blocks any intoxicating impact caused by that receptor.
Research suggests that when THC and CBD work together to affect CB1 receptor activity, it tends to decrease the negative side effects of THC such as anxiety and short term memory impairment
